We had long wanted to do a photo workshop aboard a small barge along the wonderful canals of Europe. We selected southern Provence for our first such adventure and that was such a success that we are headed to Champagne country for our second. We have full days with photography, enjoying the barge and the sights along the Marne-Rhine Canal, biking and walking along the tow paths, and imaging and critiques, as always.
We will be leaving from and returning to Paris. A bus will transport us to Epernay for the start of our adventure, enjoying the many sites along the Champagne Trail, and ending back in Paris.

The Raymonde, our modern-but-traditional-looking barge, is dedicated to BCPA. That means that we have more input in and control over what we can and will do. Including Arnie and Margo, the barge will accommodate 22 passengers plus a crew to dance attendance on us. There is even a Jacuzzi on the bow, so bring your bathing suit!
The barge has its own chef with all meals, fine wine, beer, and refreshments included in the price. Specialty wines and other personal expenses are, of course, the responsibility of the participants and their guests.
For our excursions, we will either walk into town or be transported by our own bus. We will be following much of the famous Champagne route, with side trips to such places as Hautvilliers, birthplace of Champagne, Reims, with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Château-Thierry, birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine, famous fabulist, and site of a Medieval castle with a commanding view of the Marne Valley, Meaux, famous for its brie, and of course, Paris. What we will see in Paris will differ from what we photograph during the Paris workshop. And yes, we will have a Champagne tasting and a cheese sampling of the famous brie.
While there are no hidden costs, you should check out the Click here for more information button below, including customary tips. For those who are also joining us directly from our Paris workshop or heading afterwards to our one in Taormina, Sicily, we offer you a bit of a discount on either of those two, "sandwich-board" workshops.
As always, we will encourage you to seek your own vision and teach you how elements of composition and the magic of light work in concert to make wonderful photographs. You will be inspired by the sights and sounds of this photogenic area ...
Meanwhile, be sure to carefully read our FAQs, as well as the various links in the box above. They should hopefully answer almost any question you might have.
