Belize — A Photo Travelogue – 12

Hey, it’s Island Time, mon! Arnie and I have been doing a lot of walking on this charming Belizian Caye. For those new to this blog, Caye Caulker is about eight miles off the avoidable Belize City. Populated by a combination of Mayan, Creole, Garifuna, ex-Pat, and Caribbean people, it is a great place to chill out, enjoy a $5 BZ ($2.50 USD) skewer of grilled fresh shrimp, a Belikin (local beer) or a Barrel (Belizian rum) and juice. Life is good.

Arnie and I love the colors and shapes of this island, to wit some of the ones shown here…

When we first arrived back on island, there were wedding preparations where we are staying. Valentine’s Day! Of course.

The way the waves caught the late-afternoon light was dramatic.

The zig-zag pattern also reminded me of the waves I just saw in the sand.

When I saw this graphic combination of yellow, orange, and slate, I couldn’t resist.

This is a case where light makes all the difference. In flat light, this scene would have been ho-hum boring.

When Arnie saw it, he suggested turning it on its side, as I did here.

You’ll see it again later when I do another Same Place, Different View blog. Here, it was a combination of reflections and graphics that caught my eye.

The owner was definitely into brights pinks!

It’s our last day on island, and hey, what can I say? Arnie’s grown his hair and gone native. I don’t know if I’ll ever get him home!

We’re off to make more photos and eat some of that great shrimp I mentioned above. To be continued…

    1. Deby,

Now, we just have to get Ernie to grow his hair! The two, former LIFE shooters would then look like Rasta Frick and Frack!

  1. Yes, enjoyed the flower images as well. Neat to see the macro images next to the telephoto images. I will have to learn about macro sometime.

Those who haven’t seen that image of Arnie will be sorry to miss it! It is a true classic.

    1. Squirrel Nutkin,

Those images also show that if you do not have macro lens or filter, you can still do effective close-ups. Again, as you’ve heard us say lots of times, it’s not what you have, it’s how you use it.

And I agree, I hope more people take in that photo of Arnie. A classic it is!

      Hugs,

  2. Margo, love the geometrics here, and the image of Arnie is priceless! Also, the new laptop is in production. Hooray!

    1. Squirrel,

Thanks! Meanwhile, did you see the flower images? Totally different from the geometrics. Fun stuff!

Great about the new laptop. What a difference it will make!

      Hugs,

      TBC

    2. P.S. We had fun with the photo of Arnie. We thought that those who know him would get a kick out of it! Surprised more people haven’t commented, including his own kids!

      More hugs,

      TBC
