Same Place —Different View
After a private Lightroom workshop, Arnie and I took off for our final scouting and shooting for ourselves. We revisited places we had seen before just to cement them in our brains.
There were a couple of new locations, but we decided they were no-gos, and we did find a new spot to take our participants.
Afterwards, we returned to one pond I love for reflections. Not your standard ones, but ones that offer many patterns.
When we arrived, the pond surface was perfect, but true to form, by the time we had taken out our tripods, a breeze riffled the surface.
Since I could not do the shot I had in mind, I looked elsewhere. Patterns are things I always seek, and I found plenty. I started on the hillside, but then the breeze settled down a bit, not where I wanted it to, of course, but enough so that I found some wonderful subjects for my eye.
They were abstracts of color, shape, and subtle tonality. And, they were fun to do.
This last one was made more interesting by some unusual patterns on the surface of the pond that broke up the vertical lines with interesting textures.
Same Place, Different View! These were done from exactly the same spot. I just turned the camera in different directions. OK, OK, I think I did move the tripod a couple of inches for one of the images, but that was all for this series. And yes, I did a number of verticals that I very much liked, but in each instance, I preferred the horizontal versions.

The pond abstracts are wonderful; right up my alley. It amazes me how much color exists under the water and in a reflection, particularly when the sun is not too bright.
What sun, George? 😉 Those were made after the sun had disappeared over the mountains, but there was residual light. I love doing abstracts such as these.
