Day 03 – First Workshop Day
At noon, we started with our group. The last to arrive (from Verona) actually got in earlier than he expected. We reviewed the usual Principles of Photography, then broke for a sumptuous lunch of a smoked Salmon salad. Amazing, these meals.
After lunch, as it was misting, we came inside, and had our dessert as we continued our discussion of photography, philosophy, and technique. Once again, we have a great group. One of our participants said it was the bare feet running all over the website that attracted her. She also liked the name.
And we do have fun. As Arnie likes to say, we don’t take ourselves seriously, but we do take our photography seriously.
We eventually headed out to a little hilltown nearby. Traveling over really narrow lanes, our HonKer Van’s warning signals went crazy. We were too close to the right side AND to the left. Duh! We’re in pastoral France. What does the silly van expect?
A few photos from today, as there is little time to write a full blog…
One cannot come to Provence and not photograph the beautiful roses against the blue shutters and doors. And no, these flowers have not been saturated. In fact, I desaturated them a tad. They really were this brilliant orangey-red.
We met an artiste extraordinaire who does the most incredible sculptures of animals. They are alive as they watch you pass by on the way to see Olivia Tregaut, their creator. These two critters came right out of The March of the Penguins!
This cross stood out against an oncoming storm.
Undoubtedly, this is my favorite building in the Luberon. It has been closed to the public, but it was open today, and I got to revisit it. Those circular lines are broken stairs that once curved around the inside of the tower.
Pierre, who is chef tonight, puts the finishing touches on a vegetarian crespeou. Yummm!
Next: Another ancient hilltop city …

Talk about “no peace for the wicked”? When do you guys relax, you can’t be over the jet lag from the bonnie banks of Scotland yet!
Wicked? Yes, Mark, that’s us! Because we love what we do, we manage. After all, before we retired as commercial photographers, we had a similar schedule. At least, we had no jet lag from the bonnie highlands of Scotland.
Take care, and thanks for chiming in,
TBC
