After breakfast, Françoise and Pierre decided we needed special hats. She knows we have our BCPA ones, but we are in Provence, and she thought something a little stylish would be appropriate.

We also decided this would be the group photograph! She picked a special hat for each person and handed them out so they would match our personalities. At least in a fun, joking way. Françoise and Pierre keep remarking how much fun our groups have. Indeed, we do!

After imaging, we sat down to yet another sumptuous lunch followed by a fabulous, to-die-for dessert of a cream with apricot topping. Definitely to die for!© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. We tore ourselves away from the table and headed out for our shoot. A cherry grove was our first stop. I found a pattern of the not-yet-ripe fruit that really worked for me. They are a beautiful, orangey (is that a word?) color that deepens into red as they ripen.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. From Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. Moving along, we made a stop at one of the traditional bories, little 5th-century, peaked-domed circular huts that shepherds used for shelter and to store their tools. I went inside to photograph one, wondering if some spider would slither down its web and down my back. Fortunately, they all behaved! Those who want to see one of the bories, check out last year’s blog from Provence.

We love Lacoste. Yes, that is the same Lacoste that has funny reptiles running across clothing. Home of Pierre Cardin, and now home to SCAD, otherwise known as Savannah College of Art and Design.

We have friends in Lacoste whom we met several years ago, Daniel et Veronique Adel, both photographers whose styles are similar to Arnie’s and mine. Now, Daniel has returned to a life-long series of oil paintings of fabric and paper wound around different objects, busts, whatever.

It was wonderful to reconnect with them. With participants, we could not visit for long, but we did have the chance to introduce some of our group to them.

The sun was dropping and getting warm. Still strong enough to bounce off opposite walls, however, and cast a glow on the “shady” side.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. The sun went down, and one of the participants and I wandered up a cobbled side lane. I was struck by the angles in this scene, the flowers adding a warm, soft counterpoint to the cool stones.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. We gathered for supper in a small café, sharing images and stories. After some more photos, we headed back to the Mas. We love it. Every evening when we return, often late, Françoise and Pierre are waiting up for us, greeting us at the door, and eager to hear how our day went. What a great way to end all our days!

Next: Market day and perhaps another hill-top village…

  1. I gained weight in Scotland. Heaven knows what would have happened on this workshop. It looks delicious, I mean it looks like fun. Okay, both. I wonder if Cheryl is reading the blog.

    1. I’m not sure we lost weight in Provence, and the foot was fabulous, Dave, for sure. Lots of laughs, lots of fun, lots of great images.

      Take care,

  2. Love the soft light on the cobbles as the sun was setting. Beautiful. As always, thanks for sharing the stories.
