Summer Maine 2012, Day 04

Days 04 – The Rocky Coast

With a long day the day before and attendant reduced imaging time, the group opted to do more post-processing rather than go out for a morning shoot. Besides, they knew it was going to be a grisly gray morning, and a bit of extra sleep was an attractive prospect. We showed them some of our images before and after, going through the various history steps in Lightroom, so they could see what one might do with an image. There are no easy answers in post-processing. As with anything to do with computers, there is more than one way to accomplish any task.

It was a very productive day. We took a break to head down to our favorite fish shack for lunch, sitting out on the deck and enjoying what was finally turning into a beautiful day. It felt good to sit out in the sun, savoring our meal, watching the boats in the harbor, and enjoying good conversation punctuated with lots of laughs. Everyone’s eyes needed a rest from computer time.

Returning to our imaging room, people finished up their images, and we had another great critique session. But, it was time to head out for our afternoon/evening shoot on and around some coastal ledges.

I clambered down below to check in on those who were already there. Once I knew they were OK for the nonce, I found a shot, kicked off my flip-flops and threw them out of tide’s way, waded into the water, and went through my own challenge of not slipping on the rocks and finding a place to set up my tripod. I loved the way the water swirled around these “hairy” rocks.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. From Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. Arnie and I gave the group various challenges, and it was fun to help them and see them experimenting and trying different things.

We watched the clouds rolling back in with the promise of more rain. It made for a moody and interesting sky.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved.
