Days 05 – Last Day – A Small Harbor & Treasures
Our last day of the workshop. This is always a little sad for us, because everyone gets to know one another in this intensive sharing of a common passion – photography. There are friendships forged during these workshops that last far beyond. Sure, we keep in touch by e-mail and Facebook, but it is not the same as that face-to-face experience.
We headed over to a small harbor for our last location. There was fog lurking just outside the entrance, and escaped wisps of it inside. At the far end of the harbor, a tidal pond flows down the rocks and seaweed into the main part. Twice a day, when the tides are nearly full, it actually flows down back into the pond. This is a small form of reversing falls. Here, the water was still flowing out and would be for quite some time to come.
It’s always fun for us and our groups to poke around the fishing piers. There are all sorts of treasures and shapes to photograph such as this one that caught my eye and that I’ll post on one of our Facebook pages to see if people can guess what it is.
You’ve read about my attraction to reflections. There is something calming about them to me, even if they carry a little mystery with them. Perhaps it’s my love of the sea and of classic boats. I love their ephemeral and changing patterns, to wit these.
We headed back to the workroom for our last session, and imaging done, at least for the nonce, we sipped wine as we did our final critiques. Goodbyes were said, people lingered, not wanting our time together to end. We look forward to seeing them again.
