Arnie and I feel lucky. We have been photographers a long time, and those of you who know us know we have enough gray hairs to prove it!
Photography really is our life and our passion, and we love imparting our enthusiasm for it, our knowledge of it, and our experience in the field to our participants.
In our workshops, we put our participants first, but every so often, it is nice to share some of our successes, to wit …
Most recently, Arnie was interviewed for Louisa Curtis’ Chatterbox ChatterArtists section. Louisa had interviewed us a few years ago for an article she did on couples working together. This time, it was Arnie who was featured.
Louisa was quite taken with the photographs from Paris that Arnie submitted to her, this one, among others. We are returning there in 2013 once again for la Fête de la Musique, that amazing festival of music to celebrate Summer Solstice.
Arnie started out as a photojournalist for LIFE and Time before moving to commercial work, and it seems that he is moving back to his roots.
Margo just found out that three submissions for the WIPI (Woman In Photography International) “It’s Magical” Contest took honorable mentions. There were ten HMs chosen in each category. The official announcement is not yet up on the WIPI website, but here is one of the images chosen. Some of you have seen another variation of it.
About a year ago, Margo was interviewed for nik Radio. Out of that, came an invitation to be one of the speakers at the first-ever, online, 24 Hour Photoshop. The website is still being updated, so stay tuned.
Arnie and Margo will be having an exhibition in Durham, NC at Through This Lens called The Ying and Yang of the Outer Banks, featuring two sides of this wonderful strip of barrier islands. We will also be giving a talk at the opening reception as well as a weekend workshop. Stay tuned for updates on this.
Earlier this year, we got word that one of our images from Santa Fé and Taos was a “Spider Fellow Nominee” for the Black & White Spider Awards, another name, we think, for “Honorable Mention!” Either way, it was great to hear that one of my favorite black-and-whie photographs got recognition.
Margo will be one of the judges for the upcoming annual exhibition of Cary Photographic Artists in Cary, North Carolina. It should be an interesting exhibit. Arnie and I gave a talk their last winter on Lightroom 4 along with creativity.
Next: Perhaps something from Santa Fé and Taos.

CONGRATULATIONS! Where and when will you exhibit your work in Durham? I don’t want to miss it.
Dee,
We will give ample announcement for the reception and dates in January, along with a weekend workshop we will be doing in Durham (NC).
Take care,
TBC
It is an honor and a privilege to call both you fellow artists, photographers, mentors, but especially friends. I can tell you how pleased Lois and I are to see you both recognized in such great ways. Congrats to both of you!
Thank you so much John. It’s great to hear from you, and we look forward to the next time we see you two, perhaps at our exhibition in January!
Take care,
TBC
