At this point, the blogs will be short, as the workshop has begun, and we are just a tad busy, to say the least.
We met in the hotel lobby to head off for one of those famous, traditional, sumptuous, New Orleans Sunday brunches. It was a beautitful day … sunny with temperatures considerably warmer than yesterday.
And brunch was just as good as we remembered it from the last time we were here. The group feasted and got to know one another a bit. On the way back to the workroom, we photographed, then met for the first-day-going-over our Principles of Photography.
Today was a chance for the newcomers to get their proverbial feet wet, and they got into it big time. The alumni returned to NOLA, because they love photographing here. There is such a feast for eye and lens.
After listening to music, photographing musicians, windows, lights, even enticing ladies, we returned to The Spotted Cat where many of us were last night. The music was great, albeit it a last-minute fill-in band, and Arnie and I made suggestions of ways one might approach the scene.
Dinner time saw us at a great little restaurant just up the street, and we sat at adjacent tables, so conversation could flow freely back and forth.
It was time to brave crazy Bourbon Street, filled as it is with revelers, glitz, lights, and the bizarre. Music blared out of open doorways, people trying to entice us in. We had another agenda, so we ambled on. I showed a couple of the participants one way they might look at the long row of neon light by using motion.
People seemed to have fun seeking their own vision and making images, some, as always, more successful than others. There was laughter, and a feeling of comaraderie that belied the short time these people had known each other.
Today’s tally? A mere 13,015 steps and 5.31 miles. Siri is keeping track of our movements! That said, bed is going to feel wonderful!
Next: Day 01 of the actual workshop
