Venice 2015, 01

It is our first day of this workshop, our first in Venezia for Carnevale.

Everyone comes down to breakfast. Some introduce themselves. Others rekindle old friendships. It is good.

After our preliminary meeting that is shorter than normal — after all, this is an alumni workshops where we set a higher bar — we head out for our first shoot. At first, by the nature of the narrow streets, we are somewhat bunched up, but everyone finds shots, and bit by bit we spread out more, and soon, we don’t know where some have gone. It is OK, as many have been her before and know their way around and know that we expect nothing less than the best they can do.

For some who have been with us fewer times, we give suggestions, send some back to redo shots. We meander on, stopping here and there. It is a lovely day. The sun is shining, and it is not as cold as it has been the last few days.

I see some grill work and stop to capture it against a beautiful, red background. Others stop, and I make suggestions.© 2015 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. We stop on a bridge over an area of a small rio not yet invaded by harsh sunlight. There are wooden boats. Then, magic happens, and a Gondola appears.© 2015 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. Many of you know my passion for wooden boats. So, even though this one was more sunken than floating, the color against the background sang for me.© 2015 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. Along the way, we stopped for a traditional Italian snack and glass of white wine. Since I am gluten-free, I have to request no pan. Ahhh, no problemo. Our host has two children who are celiacs. He understands, as do so many in Italy.

There are some of us who dine together in a small, local ristorante. The food is excellent, my salmone is superb, and life is good as we talk photography, race cars, and assorted other topics.

For some, a limoncello back at the hotel, then to bed for all of us. It is the fish market first thing in the morning…

  1. The Gondola picture is magic! Beautiful images all around- as always 🙂 – but the gondola is my favorite. I am very much enjoying your adventures in Venice- thanks for writing!

    1. Sandra,

Sorry to be so long in posting your lovely comment, but we have had SCANT Internet. This also accounts for the lack of blogs. We simply could not get online.

Thanks for writing, and glad you like the image!

      Take care,

      TBC
