Isle of Skye, Day 02

Second Day of the Workshop

People were still tired from overseas travel, but we met at 8:00 for breakfast at our lovely hotel in the southern part of the Isle of Skye. From there, we started imaging and preparing for critiques. There were a lot of philosophical discussions about approaches, history, and photography in general, and everyone had great input, along with some very nice images.

That said, we got quite a late start, so we stuck “close to home” and headed out to an old church ruin, peppered with sheep and Celtic crosses not terribly far away. Many in our group wanted shots of sheep, so we found a nice, cooperative flock on the way and stopped to photograph, picking our way between the “offerings.” On to the church ruin where people made different photographs. I had a fierce Celtic cross in mind.

It was time to move on, so we went down the narrow, one-track road to a small loch (lake) and some grasses. The bens (mountains) beyond contrasted beautifully with the foreground.

When the light faded, we returned to the hotel and sat around sipping waters, single malts, and glasses of wine, sharing biscuits and crackers , fruits and cheeses that we had bought earlier in the day from the little store just down the lane. We knew we would get back after dinner time, so we were prepared. Besides, we had enjoyed a proper, full lunch before taking off for our shooting locations.

Content and laughing, we parted, heading off for a good night’s sleep.

And, by the way, my computer is still behaving. Nastiness begone!
