We have another lovely lunch outside under the shade tree. Tuna and tomatoes and olives grace the fresh lettuce from Kathy and Franck’s place just up the road. Add a slice of lemon, and Françoise’s way with herbs and olive oil, and we enjoy another delicious salad.

Our hostess always makes it look so pretty. Today, we have bowls shaped like cabbage heads. Presentation always excellent.

Today, instead of the roses, we had a bouquet of Oleander and Lavendar. The gentle fragrance wafted across the table.

She is ever gracious, and allows us to photograph down in her cellars.

It is a warm day outside, so the 50-degree cool of the cellar is most refreshing. We find barrels, old bottles, and even baskets to photograph.

Cameras are twisted this way and that to get just the right angle.

Anne talks about her winery, and it is clear, like any wine maker, she has a passion for her craft. It certainly shows in her wines, as we have found them to be excellent.

There are still photographs we want to make. We only covered part of the village, and after the light had gone, we found other special spots.

We know where we want to start, so we head down hill. This view is a classic view of a French village in Provence. I like the way the road curves down, the buildings glowing from the light reflected onto them.

There is a little patch of red leaves on a vine that lead the eye down. I have the look I want.

Down we go and back up another road. Some people stop at the same location as last night. I encourage them to follow me up the hill where I feel there is a better view.

They soon follow and agree. The light is perfect. The town spreads out below and cascades down the hillside. We could not ask for more. © 2011 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. There is much else to photograph, and we traverse many little side streets and alleys.

We meet a couple from the States. They are renting a beautiful flat overlooking the valley. We chat for a bit and think that would be a lovely place to be.

There are more photographs to make, however, so we move on. But part of traveling is meeting different people, both fellow travelers who appreciate the quieter side of traveling as well as people from the area.

Finally, we have run out of light, but as we walk back up that street that we photographed earlier. There may not be good natural light, but we are taken by the village lights. There is a building with a red light shining in one window. We talk about what that might mean. Perhaps not in this village. All the same, the glow coming from the window is good. It must belong to an artist, as there is a gallery below and evidence of art above. We all make photographs.© 2011 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. All Rights Reserved. It is a good way to end the day. We gather under our favorite shade tree and share a glass of wine. What more could one ask?

    1. Thanks, Carl, and Arnie sends his best back.

It has been a fun road to travel, in all senses. We’re glad you enjoyed the blog.

      Take care,

      TBC

  2. Margo – I have been following your blog since Spain and have throughly enjoyed traveling vicariously with you and Arne. We start our journey tomorrow and will be in Cortona the evening of the 17th. I hope our photo adventure will be just as rewarding as those in Spain and France. Dave

    1. Dave,

We’ll be seeing you very soon. I am sure we will have just as much fun in Toscana as in Andalucia and Provence. What a great group we have.

Meanwhile, It’s nice to know that people have been following the blog. It’s a lot of work writing them, but fun, too.

Take care, and best to Sue (TWW), too,

      TBC
