This will be a VERY short blog tonight, or should I say morning. We had a great day today with our alumni participants and two who are new to us and who were quickly adopted by the others.
We headed out to the salt flats to look for light and patterns. They did a great job for their first day, and the critique session at the end of the day in the saloon was a lot of fun.
While Arnie and I were helping our group, we managed to get a couple of shots.
Here were two of mine…
The first was after the sun had disappeared over the mountains, but there was a subtle glow in the sky, and I found a pattern in the salt flats that led my eye off into the distance.
While Arnie stayed with some of the group out on the flats, I returned to the parking area to see what those who had chosen to stay there had found. In helping one of our group, I showed him what one could do with shape, reflections, and white balance.
We always love to get comments.

Beautiful textures and patterns! I particularly like the lighting and color of the second one. : )
To us, Death Valley is all about textures and patterns, shapes and colors. Doing photography at night is also fun, as you saw in that second image.
Thanks for your comments,

Margo – Absolutely enjoy following the blog. It is a vicarious workshop! Wish I was there. Dave
Dave,
I love the idea of providing a vicarious workshop. Maybe not as good as your being here, but enjoyable all the same. We look forward to the next time we see you.
Take care, and thanks!
