Celebrating 2012, Part 3

… And a Great Opening Reception for our Exhibition…

The opening reception for our exhibition, The Yin and Yang of the Outer Banks at Through This Lens in Durham, NC, was by all accounts a great success. Well over 100 people attended, and while Roylee Duvall, owner of the photo gallery said that often, people come in waves to an opening reception, ours was packed for the whole three hours. There were lots of wonderful comments, even from people who did not know us or our work!

Arnie and I have been exhibiting our work for decades. It is in museums and private collections world-wide. The approach to the theme of this show was a departure for us, so we were a little nervous before the reception. One person, a regular at the gallery and a collector himself, was there at the beginning of the reception, then returned the next day to take time and peruse all the images. Roylee said he was very complementary of the show. We have posted a few candids from the opening reception over at our BCPA page on Facebook. (Like us there if you like what you see.) When you get there, go to Photos, then to Albums, and look for The Yin and Yang of the Outer Banks.

Now, on to more of our favorite images from 2012 … and as with earlier installments of this series, for somewhat larger versions of these photographs, head over to our Facebook page and click on Photos.

There is an area on the Maine coast that I grew up sailing on my dad’s classic, wooden boat. Arnie has come to love this area as much as I. Yes, we have photographed here a lot, but we always seek a different way to photograph our favorite locations, ones that we share during our Summertime on the Maine Coast.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. After a break in New Hampshire, in the town I have known my whole life, we took off for the southwest, visiting family here and there along the way. The first of these workshops was Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks in southwestern Utah. So near geographically, yet so different geologically, it is always fun to photograph here. I did a daily blog that started with our scout-and-shoot days and continued through the workshop.© 2012 Arnold Zann. All Rights Reserved. From Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. We packed up from that workshops and drove straight to our next one, Arches & Canyonlands National Parks. Here, as in so many locations we love, the light is ever changing, the images we make always different. Those who have joined us on various workshops know we put in long hours, but I still managed to get out a daily blog that started the next day with our scouting and shooting.© 2012 Margo Taussig Pinkerton. No rest yet for us on this leg of our southwestern tour. We scrambled to load up the car, get some provisions – read power bars – for the journey down to Taos. We stopped along the way and ate at a great restaurant in one of those historic spa/hot springs towns. The next day, we ended in Taos for our Santa Fé & Taos, Georgia O’Keeffe Land workshop. This area has attracted artists for decades and decades, dating back to the 19th century. There is a reason, and Arnie and I have always been attracted to this region.© 2012 Arnold Zann. 1. My wife and I went to see your exhibit today. I loved the use of light and form and color. A really great exhibit. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
