There are so many images I could put into a blog on Belize and Caye Caulker, but I’ll make this the last one in the Belize — A Photo Travelogue series. I’ll save more for a new Same Place — Different View series with images, of course, from Belize.

We were charmed by Caye Caulker — as those of you who have been following this blog know — and went our photographing every day, at all times of day. There were scenes that we kept revisiting, as they always looked different.

For some reason, this building always captivated me. Perhaps it was the colors against the azure of the sea beyond.

What can I say. I love wooden sailboats, and this scene gave me two out of three!

One afternoon, we had gone down to The Split sans cameras so that we go in the water if we wanted. Coming back, we were greeted by the gathering storm clouds. I sprinted back to our hotel to grab my camera, then hightailed it back in time to do a series of shots.

The colors and reflections against the sky were wonderful.

Several minutes later, we got this effect.

Looking across the island, we could see that the sun was trying for some color in the sky as it set. Lickety-split, I raced back to the other side by our hotel.

I got there just before the colors started to fade.

Something caught my eye off to the side — the sunset colors reflected off the crests of the ripples in the water.

Yes, we’ll be back next year, both to Caye Caulker and to southern Belize amongst the Mayan people. Can’t wait. Until then, we have workshops in Savannah and the Outer Banks, Virginia and Maine, three in Europe, three in the southwest …
