September 6-10, 2025 | Saturday noon through Wednesday at 2:00 — 8 photo shoots
COVID SAFETY: Please read BCPA's COVID-19 Information and Prep page. Many of us grew up knowing about New England covered bridges, but how many of us, until we knew about the movie with Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood, were aware that there are still a few covered bridges left in Iowa.
They are a dying breed, and bit by bit, most have decayed and fallen into the ground. There are still six left, and BCPA will share them with you. along with the surrounding area and other historic local sites.
Winterset in Madison County, Iowa, where we will be based, is surrounded by streams, farmland and old buildings. One of the covered bridges is actually in the next county, but all are not far distant from one another.
This is also the birthplace of John Wayne, another notable actor, whose erstwhile house is now a charming museum.
Here, you'll be able to to celebrate your passion for photography, seek your own vision, hone your seeing and imaging skills, and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.
When making plans, it is critical that you arrive in time for the first session on Saturday. Newcomers should be ready to go at noon, while seasoned alumni can wait until 12:30 or so. Times may be modified on the latter closer to the workshop.
Meanwhile, be sure to carefully read BCPA's FAQs, as well as the various links in the box above. They should hopefully answer almost any question you might have.
