Do you want to learn how to make stunning photographs? Do you want to do it in a small, intensive, fun-filled photo workshop where you can spread out, seek your own vision, and find your own subject, not stand cheek by jowl with a gaggle of photographers?
With workshops limited to 12 participants sharing two instructors (maximum 6:1 ratio), you can be assured of lots of individual attention, help, and critiques. In fact, we are working with you the entire time in both the field and classroom. In addition, because of our small group size, we have gained access to some private areas that cannot handle larger groups.
We continue to be blown away by the work our students produce in our workshops, their student comments, and the high percentage of returning alumni. We also welcome non-photographing spouses, SOs, and friends, as they really enjoy our groups, too. The caveat, of course, is that they make doubly sure they don't stand in the way of the paying participants.
And that fun factor we indicated above? Everyone shares laughs from Day One!
We are proud to report that some of our students have won
awards and been accepted into juried shows with images they have made both in our workshops and afterwards! In addition, Barefoot Contessa
Photo Adventures has been featured quite a number of times
in magazines and articles, as you can see here.
Also, it is wonderful to see and hear of the friendships that last well beyond the workshop!
So, join Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures for long, fun, intensive days in which you'll have a great time while learning to seek and refine your own creative vision, whether in a regularly-scheduled photo workshop, a private workshop of your choosing, by scouting and photographing with the instructors before a workshop and receiving some added instruction, or coming in a day ahead ofr some of our workshops to get some intensive instruction on the latest version of Lightroom (contact us for this).
We also have gift certificates for those who want to give a workshop (or part of a workshop) as a present.
While we (Margo and Arnie) don't tell you exactly what to photograph (we really do want you to "seek your own vision, and create great photos"), we take you to great locations and pride ourselves on giving you the tools — understanding the magic of light, elements of composition, knowledge of color, and processing techniques — that will help inspire you to create more compelling photographs, regardless of your experience level.
And you will take these tools home with you so you can continue to grow as a photographer. Our student galleries speak to the success of our philosophy.
We can also help those who are interested develop a logical, efficient workflow that will make the storage and processing of your images easier.
Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures has been around since
the early 80s, and with our
track record as seasoned, working pros with
many decades of teaching
experience, you will learn a lot!
And while we may sometimes photograph
with you, our first commitment is always to give you, the participant,
the most rewarding photographic and learning experience possible.
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots for domestic workshops;
Daily downloading of your images and processing (we use the latest version
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily critiques, both individual and group for domestic workshops and most overseas ones;
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
One critical note: if you are contemplating buying a new camera, please make sure you have a basic working knowledge of it BEFORE you come to one of our workshops. There are so many variations amongst camera brands, and even within each brand, far too many for us to know and thus be able to help you.
If you have not already done so, check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of imaging programs. If our FAQs do not answer all your questions,
please contact Barefoot Contessa
Photo Adventures. As we noted above, Margo
and Arnie have
many decades of experience as both active pro shooters and teachers,
and we do love to have fun with our students!
