In October, Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures heads to northern Italy to photograph in two areas that are close to each other. Lake Garda is beautifrul, crystal-clear, and the largest lake in Italy. Tucked into the base of the dramatic Dolomites, it has stunning views of the mountains and is surrounded by olive groves and wineries.

The Dolomites themselves have attracted extreme-sport types for decades, but we shall content ourselves with many walks in the high mountain meadows that afford us the beautiful, late-fall light at most any time of day. These mountains have been featured in many films over the years, and no wonder, as you will discover.

This workshop will be a full seven days with the addition of an extra day in the middle to travel from the Dolomites to Verona and Lake Garda. You will be picked up at the train station in Verona (we will let you know which train to take from Venezia) and immediately head to the mountains in a van dedicated to us. There, we will spend three days exploring the high meadows and magnificent scenery, returning to Verona after our last afternoon shoot in the Dolomites.

We have allowed a free day to settle in before continuing our workshop being inspired by the beauty in and around Lake Garda and the historic city of Verona. Realistically, we will probably haave a critique session that day as well as an afternoon photographic session, a bonus!

For this workshop, BCPA is proud to welcome alumnus Mattia Zaldini as our guest instructor. Mattia has won two Leicas along with other awards and prizes. The Leicas were for images he made in two of our workshops. He has taught workshops for Hasselblad and Leica and has run other photo programs. He is not only a personal friend, but a charming and talented photographer who will work with you to help you seek your own vision and make stunning images as he learned to do with Arnie and me. Mattia knows this area well, having grown up here.

As always, I will encourage you to not settle for any less than the best that you can do and show you how elements of composition and the magic of light work in concert to make wonderful photographs. You will be inspired by the exraordinary beauty of these two areas.

Meanwhile, be sure to carefully read BCPA's FAQs, as well as the various links in the box below. They should hopefully answer almost any question you might have.

Fees:  Standard $2,680 | Alumni $2,280 | Association $2,412
These are the base fees to which we will add local transportation, drivers, and hotels as soon as we get final pricing.

Travel insurance is highly recommended to ensure protection against any unforeseeable events.
BCPA is a small company and cannot be held liable for those who choose not to buy trip insurance.  Sharon Erickson, Margo's trusty travel agent, can help you with that. And, no, BCPA does not get any credit for referring you to her, only a thank you!
